How to create your ideal day

How close are you to living the life you really want?

Do you know what that life looks like?

Maybe you know what you don’t want - but have you ever given any time to really think about what you DO want? To what you want your life to look like day to day?

A great way to tap into this is to do the Perfect Day Exercise. Ask yourself these questions:

  1. What would your perfect day look like if you were living your ideal life?
  1. Imagine hour by hour what your day would be like?
  1. What are you doing, where do you go, who are you with?
  1. Try to be as vivid as you can in your imagination - what are the sights, smells, sounds,tastes and touch of the environment you want to be in?
  1. Imagine your feelings and physical sensations as you go through this ideal day

Finally, and this is important, I want you to think about something even more crucial than what you do and where you are.

I want you to think about how you treat yourself on a perfect day. I want you to think about how you treat others. Are you being true to your values of how you want to ‘be’ in the world? What does it feel like to really be in touch with that?

It’s easy to do this exercise without that last part but trust me, that’s the part that will give you the gold - that will tell you what you really want your life to be about.

This exercise is best done if you write it down, but otherwise you can do it in your head.

Try to give it 20 minutes if you can and really get vivid in your mind about what your day looks and feels like. If you can do it with your eyes closed, then even better.

Boring meetings are an excellent time for this. If someone asks you something, quickly open your eyes, nod enthusiastically and say ‘Yes, that’s a great thought, can you clarify it further for me?’ Works every time. Don’t dob me in.
